Tim Allen

President

Tim’s 30 years of experience in the IT industry started with Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) where he quickly moved up the ranks from service, sales, marketing, and channel management, to district sales management. In 1998 during the Compaq and DEC Merger, Tim was successful in negotiating a buyout which formed the seed money to start Zycom Technology Inc. DEC was a great place to work and develop life-long industry relationships. Those relationships were the cornerstone to Zycom’s beginnings. A native of Kingston, Ontario, Tim holds an Electronic Engineering Technology Degree from St. Lawrence College and an Executive Leadership degree from University of Toronto/Babson College.

Terry Buchanan

VP Technology & GM
Terry comes to Zycom with over 20 years of IT experience in the enterprise and mid-market with an extreme passion for technology and business transformation. As the Vice President of Technology, Terry is responsible for managing successful outcomes from the services delivery team of the company. He is an active member of the leadership team and a thought leader in company strategy, sales & marketing, professional services processes & delivery models and operational transformation. As the General Manager, Terry oversees strategy, direction, business development, marketing, operations, and staff development for all pre and post sales for the Greater Toronto Area, Belleville and Kawartha areas and South Western Ontario.

Terry has broad management, sales and technical experience within information technology supply chain, including distribution, manufacturer, value added reseller, systems integration, managed service provider, and professional service delivery organizations. Prior to joining Zycom he has held senior leadership positions as Managing Director Professional Services, Vice President and CTO. He has also held senior positions in project management, solution architecture and delivery of open systems. Most notably Terry, a SNIA Certified Storage Networking Expert (SCSN-E) and accredited business continuity professional, is often presenting to audiences across North America on virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), private cloud, and disaster recovery.

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Terry obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University where he also captained the SMU football team for three years. He has completed the CIO Pocket MBA program at Boston University and completed a Professional Management certificate at University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Terry remains active in the community coaching youth hockey and football.

Mike Lucas

VP Operations
Mike is a co-founder of Zycom Technology. From his experience in software consulting and sales, Mike developed a perceptive understanding of the requirements of business clients and he wanted to develop top quality solutions for his clients with a company that met his high standards. That is how Zycom was born. Mike is very passionate about figuring out exactly what a business needs. “I love working with our clients to better understand their business challenges and to create innovative solutions to help them solve their problems.” Mike works relentlessly with the Zycom sales and technical staff to develop exactly the solutions that each client requires.

Mike is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada and holds a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics. He started his military career as an Aerospace Engineer, working on Digital Equipment VAX systems supporting aircraft maintenance. Upon his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1992, Mike joined a software consulting firm and developed knowledge retrieval technology solutions for corporate and industry clients. He then moved to Pioneer Standard where he honed his technical sales capabilities as a Digital reseller with enterprise clients in Eastern Ontario. With his solid science, technical and management background, and more than twenty years of experience working with IT, Mike sees the tremendous potential in the strong team that has been assembled at Zycom to ensure their continued success. His primary duties in the company include operations management, finance, HR and IT. He still manages a number of major accounts in the Eastern Ontario market.

Mike has established strong community ties in the Greater Kingston Area. In addition to his work with Zycom, Mike is heavily involved in minor hockey as a coach, trainer and referee, as well as league president. He has one child and has been with his wife for more than twenty years. Mikerecently completed his Master’s Degree in Business Administration, where each of his case studies serves as an opportunity to improve Zycom Technology!
